Orientation Week 2019

Just like every year the highlight of the admissions process is Orientation.  It’s the first opportunity to see the new members of the IULI community all together and it’s the chance for the new students to bond as a family that is ready to study together and to support each other.

The first day, 22 July 2019,  was all about campus regulations where newly arrived students  receive information about practical matters such as safety, computer accounts, student life, administrative matters and an introduction to their study program heads, their deans of faculties, and also their student mentors. The day started off with singing the national anthem led by the IULI Choir.

IULI is known for its awesome student experience and this year’s Orientation Week activities prove that there really is something for everyone. IULI’s Student Body Organization (BEM) organizes the Orientation Week each year, and this year’s offerings have been superb! Riding on the success of last year’s Orientation Week, IULI is hoping to create a sense of tradition for future Orientation Weeks by sticking with the successful combination of fun and educational activities.

The orientation week supports students’ transition from high school to university, and this year we are introducing some new games with the objective of involving the more introverted students. The morning of the third day started off with a fun game called “Find Your Name Tag”. The mentors collected the students’ name tags the day before and then hid them in the hall. Each student has to find their own nametag by introducing themselves and asking if the other student has their nametag. It was a great opportunity for students to get to know each other and the ones who did not find their name tag received some fun punishments. The day then continued with a talk-show session where our alumni shared about their experience in IULI.

After lunch, the students gathered back in the hall to participate in a very entertaining presentation by Mr. Haniz (Senior Staff of Unit Narkoba Rumah Sakit Bhayangkara Sespimma POLRI) and his team about the dangers of Drugs (Narkoba) and HIV Aids.

Moving on to the third day of the Orientation Week, the new students started to feel very much at home at their new campus. The day started off with another fun game called “landmark hunt” which gave the students tasks to solve riddles and take pictures at specific places and with specific people on campus.

After the challenging and fun game ended, the students gathered in the hall to enjoy a motivational speech and sharing session by young and inspiring professionals: Tubagus Ari Wibawa Mukti, International Relations lecturer at IULI, entrepreneur and co-founder of Maesa Dental Clinic, Maria Rahajeng, former Miss Indonesia (2014), Lifestyle influencer and E-News Asia host, and last but not least Diandra P. Budiman, credit policy analyst in Consumer Banking Risk Management at Citibank Indonesia. Together they shared their experiences in their professional life. It was an educative and memorable talk-show session and the students are well equipped with tips and tricks to face the future challenges in the work field.

The day ended with an engaging and educative group project about International history and politics conducted by Mr. Nugraha Jayapraja and Miss Lelly Andriasanti  IULI’s International Relations Lecturers.

the fourth day of the orientation week has been another success! The students were engaged in a lot of fun and exciting games at Gold’s Gym, The Breeze. It was amazing to see all students filling the room with lots of energy and laughter.

The new students and their mentors have bonded very well, and the beginnings of long lasting friendships are blossoming in the gym and the classrooms.

On Friday,  26 July 2019, the orientation week came to an end. The last day was filled with laughter and tears of joy as the new students found their second home at IULI Campus and officially became new members of the IULI family.

The morning of that day, we had the honor of welcoming Prof. Dr. Arief Rachman to our campus. He gave a seminar to the parents of the students on the topic: “How to be effective parents”. It was very informative and inspirational and definitely gave the parents something to think about.

In the afternoon the new students participated in the battle of the brains (a trivia game) and they also performed in a very entertaining talent show. Each group performed wonderful musical and dance numbers which had us up on our feet clapping and singing along.

Welcome to the IULI family new students 2019!
