IULI Student Won the “Most Outstanding Delegate Award” at the 28th University of Indonesia’s Asian Law Students Association English Competition

On Tuesday 7th May, one of our students was able to achieve an award at the University of Indonesia’s Asian Law Students Association’s Model United Nations conference.

Adi, a 4th semester Chemical Engineering student, was awarded the Most Outstanding Delegate of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Council for his role as the delegate of the People’s Republic of China.

Model United Nations (MUN) is a kin to parliamentarian debate. In MUN, contestants play the role of a nation’s diplomatic delegate. Each delegate must advocate for their country’s interests whilst trying to come to an agreement with other delegates.

Adi participated in the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime council as the delegate of the People’s Republic of China, where the topic was “Leveraging Technological Breakthroughs in the Fight Against Transnational Crimes”. During the committee sessions, Adi was able to shed light upon crucial aspects in the fight against transnational crimes. In the end, he was able to establish common ground between the two blocs within the cohncil on the basis of a sustainable and feasible funding mechanism for the implementation of solutions.
