The aim of this excursion was to gain a better understanding and more knowledge of the application of chemical engineering in the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industry. PT Bio Farma (Persero) is known to be an Indonesian state-owned enterprises which produces vaccines and sera.  In fact, it is the only producer of vaccines and antisera in Indonesia. Indeed, PT Bio Farma (Persero) is one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in Southeast Asia.
The representatives of Bio Farma were very friendly and  very informative. The industrial visit gave the students a substantial amount of information, including a brief history of vaccination, definitions and purposes of vaccines, the production process, regulation and quality control of vaccines, and vaccine distribution. Furthermore, a representative of the Research and Development department opened a Q & A session with the students. The students were eager to ask about the industry, and how to overcome a virus outbreak.
After the Q & A session ended, the students visited the Bio Farma Museum. The museum shows the history of PT Bio Farma (Persero), old laboratory equipment, and proper laboratory attire.  Overall, the students had such a delightful time together in PT Bio Farma (Persero).
