It’s time for another Excellence in English piece this week! This week we have another outstanding paper that is definitely worth reading.

The idea for an ‘Excellence in English’ group came from students. The normal English syllabus covers writing and presentation skills, in particular, but a number of students were already proficient in those skills and ready for a bigger challenge. An experiment with one student in early 2019 proved to be successful so a number of students in 2020 took up the challenge of producing either a fiction or non-fiction paper or story.

This week’s paper is titled “Threat of The Information Age: Defining State-Sponsored Cyber Terrorism,” written by our International Student, Andreas Hartauer from International Relations batch 2018.

“The assessment of risks to ensure security for society, politics, and economies in an increasingly tough world is a profound and intriguing part of International Relations studies. The paper is meant to outline and deliver a simplistic concept of state-sponsored cyber terrorism, so that readers of a variety of backgrounds outside the field of International Relations can equally understand and relate to the issues faced by such threat,” Andreas explains about his work.

Andreas also shares that, the phenomenon addressed in the paper covers a wide spectrum of sub-topics all of which deserve a deeper elaboration but for the sake of simplicity the content is cut at various corners. According to him, further research in future could add an analysis based on empiric data to improve the vastly theoretical nature of this paper.

IULI fosters a unique environment with various opportunities for students to improve their writing skills and lingual skills in English beyond daily classes and I am glad to be part of this. By writing papers under the supervision of native speakers and professionals I further advance in my aspiration to complete a master’s degree after graduating at IULI and to become an asset to future employers at one point in the future”, he adds.

Please spare some of your time to read Andreas’ work.
