IULI Double Degree Students at BMW Werk Leipzig

On Friday, 24 August 2018 at 8.50 am our students gathered at a bus station and started their excursion to BMW Werk Leipzig. These students, who are currently doing their research semester in Germany, had the opportunity to learn about the whole production process of making BMW cars. Throughout the excursion, Prof. Schneider, one of the lecturers at TU Ilmenau, accompanied the students.

The students were greeted by BMW Staff and were split into two large groups, each accompanied by a tour guide. “Everything was very sophisticated. We saw very advanced technology. Almost every part of the car was robot built. The guides took us to the making of the BMW i3 and i8 series,” said Sheila Malina (Batch 2015, International Relations 2015). She added, “We went to two different buildings. The factory is so big that we even had to take a bus to go to the second building. The tour took almost three hours and the guide was very knowledgeable and was able to tell us everything in detail.”
