German Chargé d’Affaires Visits IULI in Order to Enhance Cooperation in the Academic Field

6 September 2017 – Mr. Hendrik Barkeling, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. and DCM of the German Mission to Indonesia, ASEAN, and Timor Leste, made a visit to the IULI campus at Green Office Park 6, BSD City. He was warmly welcomed by the Rector, Vice Rector, Dean of Faculties, Head of Study Program and also the founder of IULI, Dr.-Ing. Ilham A. Habibie.

First of all, there was a presentation from the rector of IULI about its brief history and the study programs. In addition, the rector also gave information about the cooperation between IULI and its partner universities in Europe and the preparation for sending our students for their research semester abroad.

Mr. Barkeling also looked around IULI’s Faculty of Engineering laboratory and got an explanation about the laboratory instrumentation such as the wind tunnel, MRI, and electropneumatic from the head of laboratory, Maralo Sinaga. During Mr. Barkeling’s visit, IULI took the opportunity to enhance cooperation with the German Embassy, not only in the academic field but also in the field of career opportunities for IULI students in German companies, here and abroad.

The friendly and professional nature of the visit was reflected by Mr. Barkeling being offered to deliver a guest lecture on his next visit. Overall, the visit is part of the German Embassy and IULI’s efforts to jointly strengthen the relationship between Germany and Indonesia to produce future graduates who can compete on the international stage.
